Westpac at The Palms

The February 2011 Christchurch earthquake left the Westpac branch at The Palms mall severely damaged.
The new Palms branch opened in September 2011 and reflects the direction Westpac has been heading with their branding and design, including the installation of interactive technologies for customer use.

The most significant design feature is the ‘red ribbon’ running along the interior of the shop front. This is used both as an office/internet space and as a merchandising tool facing out to the mall. Internet kiosks are placed on the outside of the ‘ribbon’ near the branch entry where customers can sit and do their online banking and look at information about Westpac’s services and products.

Offices wrap around the perimeter of one side of the branch, circling a central soft seating customer area, and secure glass children’s play room for customers to leave their children to play safely whilst being able to keep an eye on them from the offices.
